Aquatic Effects Spring 2011 News Letter
Hello fellow pond keepers,
Welcome to another season! We know everyone is ready to get their pond open so lets get right to it. But first as always if you have any immediate you must call or e-mail us to get emergency service!
We have a couple of new things to mention this year. As you know last year we began to carry our custom blended feeds and they have been a great hit! The newest items in the line up are freeze dried krill, freeze dried earth worms, and a medicated feed to combat the dreaded ulcer disease. These feeds are designed to enhance color, stimulate breeding, are a first line defense against infections, and are affordable. Don't forget these other favorites a no carb pellet for koi at $12.00 lb, and extra large flake food at $12.00 lb really good for those small fish and tadpoles.
We want to remind you about our products and livestock that will really add to the enjoyment that we get from our water features. First lets talk about some really cool fish. We introduced these guys last year but we can't help but talk about them again, the Gambusia-affinis (common name N.A. Mosquito Fish). These little guys add some really nice excitement and eat any bug, worm, lice, etc, they can find. They stay small no more than an inch and a half in size and breed like crazy. The fry make great food for other fish as well and they can live over winter.
Another great addition that has all the same aspects is the Pimephales-promelas (common name red minnow); both of these fish form loose school and their really neat to look at. Best of all $6.00 a dozen is hard to beat!!
I'd like to remind those of you who still don't have air systems the importance of having one; they really aid in the filtration water clarity and also help to grow the good bacteria. Not to mention the health of the fish. They have come down in price over the years and are now more affordable then ever; this is another great addition to the pond that we would be happy to install at the time of the cleaning. A complete kit starts at $259.99.
Bringing back an old favorite the night lilies this is a really cool plant and looks much like our standard lilies excepts they bloom at night and have a great fragrance. Red flare, antares, electra, just to name a few are some of the night lilies. At $25.00 ea. A great addition to the pond.
